bioscreen2_0001

Dirt, Sweat and Gears race promoters announced today that Jeremiah Bishop will make the journey from the West Virginia Hills on May 9th to test the mettle of the heavy hitters of the endurance world. “The competition is going to be great and since I have never done a 12 hour race it puts me into uncharted territory so it going to be an adventure,” said Bishop. Returning 2008 DSG champion and teammate Tinker Juarez promises to give Bishop a solid run for the money. And with the likes of Josh Tostado, Harlan Price and Brandon Draugelis the men’s solo race will be a battle royale.

An event high record $11,000 pro purse with $1500 going to first place in the men’s, women’s and SS Open categories will be up for grabs. The now legendary Schwag-O-Rama will be in full swing for the third year with $15,000 worth of complete bikes, frames, wheel sets and bike gear to be given away just for entering. Title Sponsor Moots Cycles of Steamboat has generously donated a handmade Ti frame that will go to one lucky soul on the night of May 9th. Each $10 donation to SORBA will be an opportunity to Take Home a Moots. Come for the race and stay for the weekend. Friday the 8th will kick-off with the Trek/Gary Fisher demo truck on site from 10-4 on Friday, an autograph Q&A in the afternoon with the likes of Rebecca Rusch and Jeremiah Bishop as well as a Friday night 20” wheel TT – one bike, one lap on the infield. “I am stoked to check out Dirt Sweat and Gears because it’s an event that’s built up a great reputation as not only a great race but one with a festival atmosphere,” said Bishop. “Having a good time is what this sports all about right?”

Amateurs will pedal for more than $15,000 in prizes. Additionally, Moots has donated a mountain bike frame for the DSG raffle grand prize. Each $10.00 donation equals an opportunity to win the Moots frame with proceeds benefiting SORBA to help in their continuing efforts to provide trail accessibility for the Southeast mountain biking community.

“Moots’ pledge allows us to enhance the overall event for 2009 and 2010”, said Clay Higgins, DSG event promoter. “We’re excited to have a company with a rich cycling heritage onboard. We look forward to Moots bringing their one-of-a-kind titanium bikes and Rocky Mountain spirit to Fayetteville. I encourage everyone to come for the race and stay for the weekend!”
